Rivit Expands Robotic Fastening Solutions to Support Smarter Manufacturing

As manufacturers seek greater production consistency, traceability and operational efficiency, automated fastening technologies are becoming increasingly important across modern industrial assembly lines.
Italian fastening technology company Rivit has introduced two robotic modules designed to automate the installation of threaded rivet nuts and blind rivets. The new solutions, RIV603MOM and RIV601ROA, are designed for integration into existing production lines and can be used alongside automatic feeding systems and Rivit’s Controlriv GEN3 process control system.
Bringing Greater Control to Automated Fastening
The new robotic modules target a range of industrial applications, including automotive manufacturing, aerospace, special-purpose machinery and household appliances. They may also serve emerging applications in advanced robotics and drone manufacturing, where consistent fastening performance and process reliability are important.
Equipped with human-machine interfaces (HMIs), the modules enable operators to monitor fastening operations throughout production. Their intended benefits include improved process control, enhanced traceability, reduced scrap and fewer installation errors.
Alongside the hardware launch, Rivit has updated its Controlriv GEN3 software to strengthen production monitoring and integration with automated manufacturing systems.
Version 1.1.0 links individual fastening cycles to their corresponding production orders, making process data available through system results and logs. It also introduces tools to facilitate communication with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) using the Siemens S7 protocol. Further improvements include clearer visual feedback, automated graphical representations of fastening results and more efficient handling of large volumes of production data.
Together, these developments reflect a broader effort to connect fastening operations with digital production management, helping manufacturers monitor assembly quality and maintain more consistent processes.
Why Automated Fastening Matters
Fastening is a critical step in many manufacturing processes, from vehicle assembly and industrial equipment production to precision engineering. As products become more complex and production lines increasingly automated, manufacturers need fastening solutions that combine reliable installation with measurable and traceable process data.
Robotic fastening modules and integrated monitoring systems can help address these requirements. Rather than treating fastening as an isolated assembly task, manufacturers can incorporate it into a wider quality-control and production-management framework.
The development also highlights the growing importance of collaboration between fastener manufacturers, fastening equipment suppliers and automation technology providers.
